They met in 1958, in the lobby of the Finsbury Park Hotel in Manor House and bonded over a love of Miles Davis and Sarah Vaughn. They have been friends ever since and pioneered an upbeat jazzy rhythm and blues, known today as R & B. In 1975 Mick settled in Kensal Rise and from 1971-1985 fronted an eleven piece band known as Gonzalez.
